What is the recommended amount of alcohol each day?
Reply
Recommended or safe levels of drinking are usually stipulated by governments in conjunction with medical bodies.
They are just guidelines and what is a safe level of drinking for one person may well not be for another. Factors that can impact on how much you can drink include body size, age, sex, existing medical conditions and so on.
However, for an average person the recommended amount of alcohol per day is, according to the Surgeon General of the United States:
-For men to have no more than two drinks per day.
-For women to have no more than one drink per day.
One drink equals one 12-ounce bottle of beer or wine cooler, one 5-ounce glass of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits.
In the United Kingdom the government recommends….
–21 units of alcohol if you are a man.
–14 units if you are a woman.
Men should drink no more than 4 units in a day and women no more than two.
1 unit of alcohol is 1/2 a pint of beer, a small glass of wine or a small pub measure of spirits.
Hope this helps.

How much alcohol
by: Connie
Thank you for your expert advice. I was seeing an older male who drank whenever he was awake. Beer, wine, martini, alcohol in his coffee. Cannot believe he is still alive.
